The Comrise Theatre
“Questioning Modernity”
The Comrise Theatre is a theatre body working with modern environmental
and consumer issues and the social and cultural questions that lie
behind them.
 |
Working through artistic representation and dramatic emphasis, music,
costume and setting we seek to bring into being the raw spirit of
nature and set it in relief against alternative conceptual spaces.
People are not happy in a consumer world and want to be able to express
themselves without the feeling that society is a judge looking over
their shoulder. Are we in a machine? Life in a box or sans
frontière?
The Theatre was founded in 2005 by a group of professional actors intent on bringing these themes through
the power of performance. The theatre recently staged a very successful
production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s
Dream in the Haringey Community.
This production is being developed further with a view to being
produced in central London in the winter of 2006! The Theatre has also
developed a series of workshops designed for key Stage Two children.
